About Us

Foundation Skate School was set up by Robbo, an experienced skateboard coach with deep roots in the local skateboarding community, in Swansea. With over 25 years of personal skateboarding experience and more than 10 years coaching at Exist Skatepark, Robbo has spent decades supporting skaters to build skills, confidence, and a positive relationship with skateboarding. Known for his calm, encouraging, and people-first approach, Foundation Skate School grew out of a desire to offer focused, small-group coaching that meets skaters where they’re at and helps them progress at their own pace.

Foundation Skate School has a strong and long-standing relationship with Exist Skatepark, where all sessions currently take place. Exist has played a key role in developing skateboarding in the area, providing a safe, welcoming, and inclusive space for skaters of all ages and abilities. While Foundation Skate School operates as an independent coaching service, it is built on years of trust, shared values, and experience working within the skatepark environment. Coaching sessions take place during open park hours, encouraging respect, awareness, and positive interaction with the wider skate community.

At the heart of Foundation Skate School is a clear commitment to making skateboarding accessible to everyone. Lessons are open to all ages and abilities, from complete beginners to those returning to skating after time away. Robbo has experience working with children and adults with a range of adaptive needs, and sessions are delivered in a flexible, inclusive, and supportive way. All equipment is provided, barriers to participation are kept as low as possible, and the focus is always on enjoyment, confidence, and long-term progression. Foundation Skate School believes skateboarding should be welcoming, empowering, and fun — and that everyone deserves the chance to get on a board.
